As part of our vision to empower communities through art, Buzoor Theatre Association for Culture and Arts held a strategic virtual meeting today, marking the launch of the first session of our training series, titled:
“Mental Health Concepts and Stigma: The Power of the Arts in Changing Attitudes and Beliefs”
The session is part of the development of the Healing Stories Program, focusing on mechanisms for integrating mental health and community well-being into theatre and the arts.
We were honored to host a distinguished group of leading international and local experts and academics:
- Prof. Dr. Panos Vostanis – International Mental Health Consultant
- Dr. Ahmad Thabet – Mental Health Consultant, Gaza
- Dr. Azza Muheisen – Academic and Mental Health Support Consultant
The session focused on addressing and challenging the stigma surrounding mental illness within the community, while exploring how theatre and the arts can move beyond being tools for change to become powerful, living means of reshaping awareness, transforming prevailing beliefs, and creating supportive environments that foster healing through art.
